To help the people we met on our journey, we were always looking for new ideas, which led us, during our stay in Islamabad, to the “Pakistan council of research in water resources” next to the Edhi Foundation. Contaminated drinking water is one of the ways in which pathogens can spread the fastest and easiest, which is why it is of utmost importance in the fight against these diseases to ensure that as many people as possible have access to clean drinking water. After an extensive tour through the laboratories of this institution, we decided to buy five filter systems as well as preparation tablets and test kits for our further journey. The water filter systems we have acquired consist of an upper and a lower water tank, both of which have a capacity of 20 liters.

In between, there is a ceramic filter, which must be brushed off every few weeks and whose task is to filter out dirt particles of all sizes. To determine the quality of the water, the additional test sets are used, which analyze a small sample of water within 48 hours for its bacterial and virus concentration. Depending on the season and place of residence, the strength of the drinking water contamination differs, which we can counteract by adding water treatment tablets depending on the situation.

Of course, the water filtration systems are not a final solution to the problem, but in our opinion and with the financial resources we have available, they are a step in the right direction. Inspired by the acquisition of these systems, we started to get involved in the matter and have set ourselves the goal in the near future and as soon as our donation account allows, to build a first well in a remote area, or for a long term solution, to process the available groundwater.
